Edmonton Oilers players were in the mood to cheer during the NHL Winter Classic on Wednesday night, but instead opted to play a tune-up game in uniform for the Army Service Uniform.
The Edmonton Oilers won the game 4-3, thanks to a goal by left wing Jordan Eberle in the final seconds of regulation to tie the game at 3.
The Oilers have yet to announce the uniform changes for the upcoming season, but head coach Todd McLellan said the team will look to add to the uniform collection this off-season.
The Edmonton Oilers are in a tough spot in terms of uniforms, as they are already wearing their regular uniforms during home games, but McLellman has yet to say when they will be re-instated.
The NHL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement allows teams to swap uniforms at any time during the regular season.
The Oilers, in their current uniforms, are currently wearing the uniforms they had on during the 2016-17 season.
